We have been serving the Westside of Los Angeles since 1981. Our founder Howard Pollack was a legendary mover and shaker in the health food industry, bringing "Wellness" products to a wide audience before that was a major trend.
Howard Pollack founded Rainbow Acres as a way to bring whole, natural foods to the marketplace in an affordable way, by buying them wholesale and offering them in bulk. Our Wellness department provides not only the finest health supplements and herbal remedies available, but advice and knowledge our customers have relied on for over 40 years.
We specialize in sourcing a variety of specialty grocery and lifestyle products, including: vegan foods, gluten free foods, keto and paleo friendly items. We are proud to offer organic produce and non-GMO certified items throughout the store. Our Deli and Juice Bar offer health options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

When our doors first opened in 1981, the sign read: Rainbow Acres Nuts & Things - Wholesale to the Public. At this time, Howard Pollack had decided to open his own retail store, after many years of running a natural foods distribution and private labeling business.
When a customer came in asking for "bolts" to go with some "nuts," Howard quickly changed the name to Rainbow Acres Natural Foods - preventing any confusion about whether or not the store sold hardware.

Howard Pollack was a born entrepreneur and a pioneer in the natural foods industry. As a young man in the 1960s, he started a natural foods business, mixing up original products in his home kitchen that he called “chunks of health.”

Soon he was working with a few partners, distributing natural products. This business, “Nature’s Best” grew into one of the largest independent natural food companies in the country. Eventually, Howard sold the business to “Tree of Life,” which ultimately became the food distributor we now know as KEHE.

Our small business began with a desire to source the best in natural foods and healthy products and bring them to our community in an affordable, friendly and knowledgable "one stop shop."

Howard’s vision back in the day was to make healthy eating accessible for everyone, with “wholesale to the public” prices. The store still sells its own private label of natural and organic dry goods at low prices. Rainbow Acres also supports local small producers of niche products, while offering a huge range of natural products, including pet supplies, health and beauty aids, as well as vegan options and gluten free foods.

The store started out small, just 1200 square feet of rented space in a small shopping center, selling mostly dry goods. Over the years, the store took over more and more of the shopping plaza, with a large deli kitchen and bakery, and today encompasses over 12,000 square feet. Rainbow Acres is best known for its well-stocked wellness department, its hot Deli bar with a changing daily menu, and the best value Juice Bar on the Westside of Los Angeles.

Rainbow Acres started out as a small business, family owned and operated, in 1981. We've grown over the years, taking up more space at our location on Washington Boulevard in Culver City, but to this day, Rainbow Acres is still proud to be a family-run business that supports the local community.

Many of our key staff members have been here at Rainbow Acres for decades. We are truly a family owned and run business, and this family extends to include all of our staff. We strive make Rainbow Acres a healthy and happy workplace.

Our small business began with a desire to source the best in natural foods and healthy products and bring them to our community in an affordable, friendly and knowledgable "one stop shop."

Howard was a visionary, who cared deeply about his community and about making natural foods and healthy products accessible to all. He opened Rainbow Acres in 1981, and we continue to be a family owned and operated store. We uphold his legacy with our dedication to bringing you the best.
